Aids Awareness


General Description

This course has been designed as an introduction and overview. It meets continuing education requirements for those professionals who have licensure and certification needs. This course is also appropriate for those professional and non-professional people that may find an HIV/AIDS Awareness course useful. It is designed to augment the knowledge you already possess or to give you the basic knowledge you might need or want. This is a course on awareness and is not designed or intended to give a total and in-depth education on HIV/AIDS.

This course will define HIV/AIDS, how it manifests, affects society and will focus on prevention. The course will be provocative and interactive. Due to the subject matter you are asked to attend with an open mind and a willingness to listen and discuss things that may be outside your comfort zone.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this training session, participants will be able to:

  • Define HIV and AIDS
  • Have a greater understanding of the disease and its progression
  • Be able to identify the major causes
  • Be familiar with how education is the major weapon in controlling the disease
  • Understand the importance of prevention

Suggested Course Length

This is a six hour course which will fulfill the minimum four hour requirement for most governing bodies. The course can be tailored to fit time constraints or according to your schedule.

Credit Hours

0.6 CEU's will be awarded upon completion.
